1. “Despite/In spite of + N/V-ing” = “Although, though, even though + mệnh đề: mặc dù 

   1. In spite of being short,they still love playing sports.

   Dù thấp bé nhưng họ vẫn rất thích chơi thể thao.

   2.  In spite of having very little money ,they are happy. 

   Mặc dù có rất ít tiền, họ vẫn hạnh phúc.

   3. Although my foot was injured , I managed to walk to the nearest village.

   Mặc dù chân tôi bị thương, tôi đã cố gắng đi bộ đến ngôi làng gần nhất.

   4. In spite of the silly story , I enjoyed the film.

   Mặc dù câu chuyện ngớ ngẩn, tôi rất thích bộ phim.

   5. Despite living in the same street , we never see each other.

   Dù sống chung một con phố nhưng chúng tôi không bao giờ gặp nhau.

   6. Even though I was only out for five minutes , I got very wet in the rain.

   1.In spite of being short, they still love playing sports.

   *Although =Though =Eventhough + S + V, S + V : Mặc dù….

   ->Khi chuyển từ Although về Despite/ In spite of, ta có 3 cách biến đổi như sau :

   C1 : Despite/ In spite of + Ving, S + V 

   =>Dùng C1 khi đồng chủ ngữ, ta bỏ S và chuyển V thành Ving

   C2 : Despite/ In spite of + his/her/my/…+ Adj + N, S + V

   =>Dùng C2 khi không đồng chủ ngữ nhưng có dạng danh từ

   C3 : Despite/ In spite of + the/ his/her/ our + N

   =>Dùng C3 khi không đồng chủ ngữ, không có dạng danh từ

   -Khi viết lại từ Although về Despite/ In spite of mà có dạng : Although + there is/are + …., S + V thì ta bỏ there is/are và giữ nguyên các vế còn lại.
