I think that our country has a lot to improve in terms of equality between men and women. In my opinion, the reason why Vietnam is still not yet equal is because in our society, there is still a great deal of gender discrimination. The concepts of masculinity and femininity can be explained as follows: Masculinity is a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles typically associated with boys and men. Femininity is a set of attributes, behaviors, and roles typically associated with girls and women. I would like to have the same rights as men to have the jobs we want or study what we want at school because I believe that all people have the right to choose their own future. Besides, I hate being told what to do or what not to do just because I am a girl. But we are still forced by traditions to follow these rules despite our wish to change them. It’s okay if you want your daughter to be a housewife when she grows up but never force her to be one when she actually wants more out of life! The least you can do for your daughter is support her dreams and choices! In my opinion, the best way for our country to become more equal between men and women is by stopping stereotyping people. In reality, there are a few problems with gender equality in our country. Men usually have more power than women in politics. However, it isn’t important because the government is fair to both genders. In education and work, I think that boys and girls are equal. They have to study hard to achieve their goals. For example, there are many Vietnamese women who have become well-known singers of the country like Hồ Ngọc Hà Đàm Vĩnh Hưng, Nguyễn Phương Loan… Moreover, at work, the salary for men and women is similar. The number of women who have high positions in companies is increasing quickly. In family life, husbands and wives should share all responsibilities equally such as doing housework or caring for children and parents. Sometimes, men can do housework like cooking or washing clothes to help their wives save time and energy.
