Living in Rio
My name’s Paulo and I’m fifteen years old. I live in Rio de Janeiro and I’m a student. My family moved here when I was thirteen. Here in Rio, my dad works as a teacher and my mum has a job in a local hospital. I have a brother and a sister and we’re all students. We live in a flat in the city. There are three bedrooms in our flat, so I share a room with my brother. We also have a kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. When I want to be on my own I go out. We live opposite a park. I often meet my friends there and we play football. Football is very important here. We have the Maracana stadium. It’s famous around the world. It’s not in my part of the city, but I go there to watch football of course and also to concerts. Rio is a very exciting city. It’s also very busy. There are lots of shops and cafés. Every year there’s a carnival. It’s a huge street party with lots of music and dancing and it’s very famous. I love the Carnival, but my favourite thing about Rio is Copacabana beach. Everybody knows it!
