  1. Forest fires are large uncontrolled fires occurring in the forest. They are caused by nature or human activities. In the summer, when grass and plants are dry, they become easy to catch fire. If someone carelessly drops a lit cigarette or forgets to put out a campfire, fires can be started. In addition, fires that are caused by natural causes are started by lighting, volcanic eruptions or sparks from falling rocks. A strong wind can help a fire to spread and move quickly. Forest fire is really hard to put out or control. They can be enormous in size and quickly change directions. However, there are techniques that firefighters use to control forest fires, which are firebreak and airdrop. The first way is trying to get rid of fuel (grass, leaves,…) and the second is dropping water or chemicals on fires from the air. Billions of dollars is spent every year fighting fires in America. We all need to be careful to prevent the unexpected forest fires.

  2. Flood is considered as one of the most dangerous disasters in the world. There was a “historical flood” that happened in Hanoi in 2008. This must be a year that Hanoians can never forget because the rain was so heavy and lasted for many days consecutively that inundated many streets of Hanoi. The rain was considered heaviest in the last 100 years, which caused people to suffer from a lot of damage. According to statistics, many families even suffered from inundation as high level of water flew into their houses. Offices or schools had to make emergency announcement to let their employees and students be at home to avoid any potential accidents that may caused by the pouring rain. Life then had a lot of disturbance and people had to wait until it stopped raining. The rain triggered inconvenience for people in different fields as high death toll was recorded, traffic was in no order or people stood a high chance of dangerous epidemics. Luckily, after a few days, life began to come back to the way it was thanks to concerted effort of both local authority and many people of the city.
