Flood is considered as one of the most dangerous disasters in the world. There was a “historical flood” that happened in Hanoi in 2008. This must be a year that Hanoians can never forget because the rain was so heavy and lasted for many days consecutively that inundated many streets of Hanoi.
Drought is a prolonged dry period in the natural climate cycle that can occur anywhere in the world. This is a slow-onset phenomenon caused by a lack of rainfall.
A drought happened a large area in Long An province in 2013. The sun heated the whole area from morning till night and there had been no rain for 6 months. The drought had serious effects.
Everything seemed to be dried. In drought area, plants and animals all died because there was not enough water for living. The rice paddies withered and the soil was broken. The people in affected areas didn’t have enough water for their daily activities. Luckily, hundreds of rescue workers were sent to the drought areas. They brought water tanks to help the thirsty villagers. The government have sent food, fresh water and medical supplies to help the victims of the drought. They have also planted to prevent the drought in this area by building some big lakes to store water for living and farming.
