   $-$ Because of the difficult exam, Phong failed it.

   Mệnh đề 1 + because + mệnh đề 2 (trong đó: mệnh đề 1 là điều kiện/ lí do/ nguyên nhân của sự việc xảy ra ở mệnh đề 2).
