   Cấu trúc thì quá khứ đơn:

   → Với tobe:

   was → I, He, She, It, danh từ số ít, 1 tên riêng

   were → You, We, They, danh từ số nhiều, 2 tên riêng trở lên

   Công thức:

   Khẳng định: S + was/were….

   Phủ định: S + was/were + not…

   Nghi vấn: Was/Were + S…?

   → Với động từ thường:

   Khẳng định: S + V_ed/cột 2 bảng ĐT BQT…

   Phủ định: S + did + not + V…

   Nghi vấn: Did + S + V…?

   → Những động từ là động từ theo quy tắc thì thêm ed, còn những động từ bất quy tắc thì xem tại cột 2 bảng động từ bất quy tắc. Ví dụ một số động từ bất quy tắc: see – saw; swim – swam;…
