Short stories inculcate in the reader’s mind an image, deep thought, an unforgettable impression, so when reading a short story even once, you will always remember its content. Nam Cao’s work Lao Hac has focused on describing a piece of old Hac’s life, presenting a difficult situation, the son could not get a wife, left the village, leaving his old father and Golden dog. The departed son may not return, but the old man still hopes to save money for him. In the end, he had to leave the world to keep money for his children. He is a victim of ancient society, through which the work denounces the petty ancient society. The work inculcates the reader with the art of short stories. Short story works often uphold human qualities, criticize bad habits, and educate people in a positive direction. As in the short story “The Last Leaf” by O. Henry has emphasized humanity, the noble sacrifice of old Bemen, a poor painter, to save Jonsi’s life. This sacrifice moves the reader. It can be seen that short stories are extraordinary because the content of short stories is few but profound, often with few characters and events taking place. However, those characters and events must be unique. A short story cannot complete a process of transforming a person’s life, but often chooses important and unexpected moments, cuts, and special surprises to show. Thanks to the clear layout, rhetorical arrangement, and emotional contrasts, the images highlight the main theme of the whole article. The subject can be deep inside or outside. Short stories are therefore well accepted by everyone.

   Short stories often refer to the big problems of life, often giving people lessons about how to live, how to cultivate people with good thoughts. Short stories must be paid more attention and developed to make Vietnam’s literary treasure increasingly rich and unique.
